Technical Information

Preparation to install your solid Bamboo Flooring board.

Like in taking any project, preparation of installing your solid bamboo laminated flooring boards is essential. Take the following step by step procedures to make sure your solid bamboo flooring boards are ready to be laid to the best finished standard.

Preparing the floor

1) Make sure that your concrete floor on which you intend to install the bamboo flooring boards is well dry without moisture.

2) Make sure the concrete or wooden floor is level

3) Clean floor of any particle that might affect attaining a well levelled floor throughout.

4)  Wooden floors at times produce High and Low spots. Please take not of this and make sure high sports are planed and sand. Fill low spots to make sure your floor is well levelled.

Installation

Note that Bamboo flooring boards are natural, hence need acclimatisation of the surrounding atmosphere where you intend to install them. Take the boards into the room/s that you intend to install the bamboo flooring boards, open the boxes and leave the boards in the boxes for at least 48 hours before you start the installation.  

Common method of installation (The Floating Floor method)

1) Prepare your underlay to be laid. Joint underlay may be held together by making tapes.

2) Apply waterproof PVA glue to a tongue and groove joints of adjacent boards and lay the solid bamboo flooring boards with the tongue fixing into the groove.( Please note, not to glue boards to the underlay). Leave about 10mm gap between boards to take care of expansion. Continue the laying in rows. Once the first row is complete, secure and straight, continue the laying in rows till completion of the room.

Apart from the first common method known as the Floating Floor method, there are other two methods namely “Gluing Floor method” and “Secret nail method” that can be used to install the solid bamboo flooring boards. These methods in most cases require a specialist to do the installation to a perfect finish. Please research on these methods and seek a specialist advice if necessary when choosing to implement any one of the other two methods.
